Illuminating Paths For The Next Generation
"It’s Your Life, Get B.E.F.Y With It!"
Supporting Scripture: “And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.” 1 Thessalonians 5:14
B.E.F.Y, an acronym for black, educated, focused, and yielded is a ministry and movement designed to be a positive change catalyst in communities affected by drugs, gangs, crime, violence, illiteracy, health and financial disparities, and other ills.
B.E.F.Y encourages the pursuit of higher education and personal self-development as a counter and deterrent to destructive behaviors and lifestyles. Knowledge is powerful and the more informed we are, the better decisions we can make concerning our lives.
B.E.F.Y will work along with law enforcement, educational institutions, youth organizations, social service organizations, and church organizations to identify and address problems in the community and work diligently towards resolutions.
Statistics prove that a lack of education significantly contributes to such societal ills as violence, teen pregnancies, poverty, HIV/AIDS, gang affiliation, drug use, and more. Although this ministry is open to persons of any race/ethnicity, B.E.F.Y targets African Americans, a group most affected. It is our goal, desire, and prayer that through this empowerment movement, African American youth specifically, will gain a sense of cultural pride (B), take full advantage of educational opportunities (E)become focused on goals and positive achievements (F) and finally, yield their bodies, minds, and souls to serving God and the community (Y).
